Do It For The Right Reasons

Beloved, Today is Wednesday, H.O.P.E. (Hour Of Power and Encouragement) Wednesday, and I want you to begin this day with the expectation and belief that you are empowered by the indwelling of God the Holy Spirit and encourage you to confidently walk in His presence throughout the day. I also want you, child of God, to be focused. Focused on what? Focused on what you do and why you do it. We go through our daily lives and many things can seem mundane or routine, so much so that we may take the opportunity to do them for granted. Thank God that you have something to do. But, we may also have some things that we do that we consider to be special, out of the ordinary. And, how we go about do

Zion Memorial Keeps On Growing - Bailey Benson Is Here!!!

Beloved, This evening, God graced the world with Bailey Grace Benson, first-born daughter of our own Quinton and Jillian Benson, first-born granddaughter of Reverend Dr. Nikita and Valerie Bailey, first-born great granddaughter of Deacon Harvey and Geraldine Rorie, first-born niece of Janna Bailey, first-born grand niece of myself and First Lady Cynthia Cain, and, and, and the first-born baby at Zion Memorial since I have been pastor. Zion Memorial is a growing church and Bailey proves it. As we celebrate this wonderful time in the lives of the family, including the church family, please keep all lifted up in prayer and may the village prepare to help raise another daughter of Zion. Be bless

Keep Hope Alive!

Beloved, I have a couple of things that I am celebrating today. First, I am celebrating my 26 years of marriage to my wonderful wife and I am hoping for more years with her. Second, I am celebrating my second year of being pastor of the incredible, dynamic, growing church called Zion Memorial Missionary Baptist Church and I am hoping for more years with Zion. And, third, most importantly, I am celebrating my life in Christ that makes all of this possible and I am hoping for things to continue to get better and better in Him. I am celebrating and I am hopeful. I pray that you have your list of things that you too are celebrating and being hopeful in Christ for. Nothing is too big. Nothing

How Do You Want To Be Remembered?

My Zion Memorial Church Family, What joy it brought me to be with so many of you on Sunday in God's house, our house. I enjoyed our time with Bluestone but there is nothing like worshiping with my own church family in our house. It is in our house that we come together to worship. It is in our house that we come together to fellowship. It is in our house that we come together to show our love for God and each other. It is in our house that we receive revelation from God to find more ways to seek and serve Him in gratitude for all that He has done for us. It is always good when we come together in our house. It is in our house, on first Sundays, that we remember our Lord and Savior, Jesus

Don't Know What To Do? Ask God...And Believe Him!

Beloved, I am still reveling in the afterglow of our time together with our Bluestone cousins. I was blessed. Reverend Dennis said that he and his congregation were blessed. I pray that all of you who came were blessed. Each time, before I preach, I pray. I ask God to help me to do what God would have me to do that will please God the most. I ask and I trust that my prayers will be answered and whatever God gives me, in that moment, is what God would want me to have to do what God wants me to do. It ceases to be about me and becomes about God in me, through me, not for me, but for God's glory. Do you approach God that way? When you pray, and do not get your way, do you continue to trust

Thank you for a good time in the Lord!

Zion Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, Overcomers! Bless you for your support in the services at Bluestone. It was a wonderful time in the Lord for all who attended and I pray you felt blessed in coming. Pastor Dennis was so appreciative and I felt so proud to see so many of my church family with us. For those who could not make it, thank you for your prayers. The Spirit was high and the fellowship was rich...and the food was GOOD! Next Sunday, we will all be together again at our house. You make sure you are there and invite somebody to come with you. Zion Memorial is a growing church. And, it is growing because of each one of you. Thank you again for investing in our ministry for the

Being Strong For Someone Else

Beloved, First, thank you to all who made it out last night for the community meeting with Councilman Derwin Montgomery. It was a first step and, prayerfully, not the last. For those who did not make it, thank you for your prayers. We made some progress that will, hopefully, lead to more progress. We are striving to be a community church that desires to make a difference for God on behalf of those in the immediate community of Zion Memorial and not simply a church in the community that shows up predominantly on Sundays and Wednesdays. Please continue to pray for our collective guidance in making a difference for God and the cause of Christ as guided by the Holy Spirit. You see, sometime

Celebrate Your In Dependence Day!

Beloved Church Family, Okay. Okay. Let's get it out of the way. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!! Get your fun on. Get your eat on. Get your fireworks on. Safely enjoy the day that we celebrate as our country's day of independence, our country's day of freedom. As an American citizen, you should celebrate. Now, we, as Christians, do know and understand that our citizenship is not limited to the United States of America. Our citizenship, as Christians, is extended to Heaven, our eternal home with our Heavenly Father. So, we should celebrate that fact as well. For we have an independence in God, which may rightfully be called a dependence on God, through Jesus the Christ as guided by the Holy S

Problems Everywhere? So Are The Solutions Of God!

Beloved, How wonderful it was to see so many of you on Sunday and what a blessed day it was!!! We got to see two young men get baptized. Both had given their lives to Christ at Vacation Bible School. Thank God for giving us that teaching ministry and for us continuing to let ourselves be used in His service to bring the lost to Christ. We also extended the right hand of fellowship to three members, two returning to Zion Memorial. Finally, we had one person come forth to join Zion Memorial. I am getting full all over again just thinking about what God did and is doing in us and through us. And, as if that was not enough, we had a planning session for this year's Friends, Family and Comm
