Be Bold

My Zion Memorial Church Family,

What a wonderful start we have had to 2020.  It was such a blessing to have great attendance at church conference to share how God has blessed us over the past year and see the ways in which we are purposing to continue our blessings into 2020.  2019 was not easy but it was a blessing.  I prophetically decree that 2020 will also be a blessing...even if it is not easy.

As I spoke at Watch Night At Noon worship service to end 2019, I hope and pray that we will see ourselves as Zealous Mighty Marvelous Bold and Courageous, ZMMBC, Zion Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.

One of those words is where I believe it is necessary to focus our attention, Bold.  One definition of bold is "showing an ability to take risks."

Now, I distinguish bold from foolhardy where one is reckless when attempting anything.

Bold requires one to have an innate quality that sees beyond what is and dares to embrace what can be.

For us to accomplish anything for God, we have got to be bold because we are a people of faith defined in Hebrews 11:1 as "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things unseen."  God does not waste your life with the mundane and easy to do.  He challenges you to grow in faith.

When God puts a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) into your mind, He is giving you a vision of something that is to be accomplished that is going to require Him, His help, His resources, faith in Him, and for you to be bold.

It was this same experience that the Apostle Paul had when he was imprisoned and wrote to the church at Philippi.  In Philippians 1:20, he wrote, "It is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be put to shame in any way, but that by my speaking with all boldness, Christ will be exalted now as always in my body, whether by life or death."

Beloved, most of us are not going to face life or death situations because of our faith; but, that does not mean that we should minimize the opportunity to be bold for God, bold for Jesus, and bold for the Holy Spirit because of the seemingly less important situations we face.

Why not take every opportunity presented to you to be prayerful, seek God's wisdom and guidance, and then boldly go in the direction that He leads you?

What more might you accomplish in your life and how much more might you serve as a role model for others if you dared to be bold in faith in everything that you do?

Christ was not a wimp.  Christianity is not for wimps.  Christ was bold.  Christianity is for the bold.

Christian, be bold.

Tonight, we are continuing our journey through the book of Proverbs at HOPE Wednesday.  Some of you have been bold in coming.  Some of you have found reasons not to come.  God has something in store for all of us, the bold and the not so bold.  I hope and pray that you will allow faithful and faith-filled boldness to encourage you to come so that you may learn more about the wisdom of God that will enrich and empower your lives to make you that much more effective a witness for Christ.  I look forward to seeing you in a few hours.

And, remember, God loves you and I love you too!

Be blessed,

Rev. Cain
