Have You Shown The World The Amazing You?
My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,
It is HOPE Wednesday. YAY!!! I know it is cold outside. I know that it is a little rainy outside. But, the temperature is a supposed to rise and we will be worshiping inside this evening where we have light, heat, and power, Duke Energy and HOLY GHOST power! As you know, I am always trying to find an excuse for us to be together and not to stay away from each other.
With this being our first HOPE Wednesday of 2019, I am going to boldly ask and encourage ALL to come...and to ALL bring somebody. The church has purchased 50 books for us to study. I want us to have the high quality problem of running out of books. I do not want to create a library of unused books. I do not want a surplus of study materials. I want to know that we, the people of God, the children of God, love our God so much and want to know so much about HIM that we will not neglect coming together.
No excuses!
Do not find a reason not to come. Put the world on hold. You already know the reasons you should be there. Make no excuses.
Excuses are for the ignorant (those who do not know). I have taught you and preached to you so that you will know. So, you are not ignorant.
Excuses are for the incompetent (those who cannot do). I have taught you and preached to you so that you know what to do. So, you are not incompetent.
Excuses are for the insolent (those who know and can do but will not do). I have taught you and preached to you so that you know that you can do and should do...BUT, you may not do which hurts you, hurts the church family, and hurts God.
It is 2019 and you are one year, month, and day closer to meeting your Lord and Savior face to face. Do you want to show up insolent, not doing what you know that you can do for Him? I pray this spirit will not take root in our church family as long as I am pastor. Let us root it up and out.
Why is all of this so important to me?
It is because each and every one of you is so AMAZING!!!
I want the world to meet the AMAZING YOU!
When you gave your life to God through Jesus Christ, a new creature, a new creation was birthed into the world, you, the AMAZING YOU!
Now, while you are smiling right now because I have told you that you are AMAZING, do know that you are not the only one. All of us have an AMAZING YOU inside of us that the world needs to see, hear, and meet for the glory of God.
It happened to the Apostle Paul on his way to Damascus when he encountered Jesus and it changed his life from Saul-directed to AMAZING.
Acts 9:20-21 reveals, "and immediately he began to proclaim Jesus in the synagogues, saying, 'He is the Son of God.' All who heard him were AMAZED and said, 'Is not this the man who made havoc in Jerusalem among those who invoked this name? And has he not come here for the purpose of bringing them bound before the chief priests?'"
Beloved, Saul was Saul until he became AMAZING Saul, servant of the most High God and follower of His only begotten Son as guided by the Holy Spirit. He was just Saul until he was just AMAZING Saul...also known as AMAZING Paul, whose letters we will be studying for the next few weeks.
My brothers and sisters in Christ, this long message, like some of my sermons, boils down to one key point for you to decide upon in your life.
Are you going to just be you or are you going to be the AMAZING you?
The world sees everything but the world watches the AMAZING.
Come out this evening to learn more about how to be the AMAZING you. The just you will never satisfy God and it should not satisfy you.
You come and bring someone with you.
And, remember, God loves you and I love you too!
