The Answer Is In The Word

Church Family,

First, yes, I know it is Tuesday evening; but, I am traveling on Wednesday and wanted to make sure I got out our Wednesday word...even if it is a few hours early.

Second, I had a blast with our Seniors at The Barn Dinner Theatre show, Christmas Christmas Christmas. You had to have been there. It was a really good time. Deacon Richard Carter and I were even honored with the opportunity to participate, unwillingly (at least for me), in the show. Again, you had to be there.

We enjoyed ourselves as we should strive to do as a church family.

In this world, you will find that many things will come against you that will attempt to steal your peace and rob you of your joy. It is your choice whether you will allow that to happen or not.

How can you keep your peace and abide in your joy that comes from God? Stand on the word of God.

Isaiah 40:6-8 tells us,

"All people are grass, their constancy is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, when the breath of the Lord blows upon it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever."

Beloved, no matter how much you love someone, they can leave you. Relationships change. People get ill. People die.

But, Jesus died to forever change your relationship with God to cure you from the ills of sin.

How do you know? It is all in His word.

We are all subject to hearing to who is popular in the current season of life. We cannot get away from them unless you turn off your tv, radio, the internet and choose to live like a hermit.

But, there is a difference between hearing, which is physical and mental, and listening, which is also emotional and spiritual.

Trust me, popularity is fleeting; but, salvation is eternal.

If you have a problem, people can tell you what you can do.

God can tell you what you should do.

In this Christmas season, we learn about and we hear about and we listen to the birth narratives about Jesus. One that should stick it is that in the Gospel according to John, we are told that the word became flesh and dwelt among us.

That word was the word of God and that word was Jesus.

And, in His resurrected body, Jesus stands forever and the word of God stands forever.

As we come to the close of another Christmas season and another year, in all that you have going on, do not lose sight of the simple truth that the answer that you seek has been, is and always will be in the word of God.

Again, I had such an incredible afternoon with my beloved Seniors. I am looking forward to another incredible day on Sunday morning when the church family gathers together.

You make sure that you are there and bring somebody with you.

God has given us so much love to share. Let us share our love.

And, remember, God loves and I love you too!

Be blessed,

Rev. Cain
