What Jesus Gave Us For Christmas

Zion Memorial Church Family,

First, I so hope and pray that you have weathered this storm well. We have had a bit of cabin fever and finally were able to shovel out a path to get out of the house for a few hours yesterday. I pray that you will continue to be safe and warm and let the church family know if you need us in any way.

I missed you on Sunday and hope that the video message I sent helped in some way to bring appreciation and respect to the fact that God has covered and kept, provided for and protected Zion Memorial Missionary Baptist Church for 74 years. Thank you God!

The presence of God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - is something that we can always count on from our beginning to our end, and in between. We are so blessed to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ as guided by the Holy Spirit.

In this season of giving and getting, I think it is incredibly important to remember what you already have.

Revelation 1:4-6 tells us,

"Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and freed us from our sins by his blood, and made us to be a kingdom, priests serving his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever."

Now, if you look around your house, apartment, condo, or wherever you live, you will see things that you have that you believe are important. If you look through your closets, shelves and drawers, you will find more of the same.

Now, if you have a Christmas tree with presents, think about what you are going to give and what you may get. You will have to make more room for those things in your life in some way.

But, do any of those things, what you have or what you will get, compare to what Jesus has given you.

He has given you His love. You need that.

He has given you His salvation. You need that.

He has given you His family, the church. You need that.

He has given you His work. You need that.

He has given you His Father. You need that.

If you lost everything that you have in this material world, as some have through storms and devastation, you would quickly understand what you need and what you can do without.

Beloved, we need Jesus, He is never lost to us, and we cannot do without Him. As John said of Him, "who is and who was and who is to come..."

And, Jesus knew and knows that we needed and need Him. So, He gave Himself for us. And, He continues to give Himself for us until the day we will see Him face to face. It all started with Christmas.

I pray that you will not just have Christmas; but, that you will have a Merry Christmas.

And, I pray that your Christmas will be Merry because you will remember what Jesus has given us.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

I love you, miss you and look forward to seeing you soon, perhaps this Saturday.

I am praying that you will pack out the fellowship hall on Saturday afternoon for the Christmas program which begins at 2pm. A wide variety of people have been involved in preparing something for you that will be unique, uplifting and revealing, something that will help to reveal what Jesus gave us. Come and bring someone with you who can share more in the love of Zion Memorial. Transportation will be provided. If you have felt stuck in your home, come out and spend some time with your church family, the family who loves you.

And, remember, God loves you and I love you too!

Be blessed,

Rev. Cain
