Doing Your Part

Church Family,

I pray that my email finds you doing well. We had a glorious weekend with our annual Friends and Family weekend. While I did not count numbers, many commented that it was the largest and best we have had on Saturday and Sunday.

One of the groups that came commented on the fellowship, hospitality, spirit and food (oh how wonderful was the food) that was a blessing for them.

Thank you for providing such an atmosphere.

It all came together because all involved did their part.

In doing our part, there is the thing to be done and the way the thing is to be done.

What I mean is that you need to have the right spirit, heart and mind about you so that your work is done in a way that is truly a blessing to others.

All of us have trials, tribulations, and struggles. No one is exempt. So, no one should feel that they and their issues are more important than others as they go through this thing called life. To do so is to maximize ourselves while minimizing others.

Jesus chose to maximize others by minimizing Himself at the cross.

Why? That was His part in salvation.

We should all find our part and do it in a way that will bring God praise, honor and glory. As we do our part in our Christian journey, we should look to Hebrews 12:1 that tells us,

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us..."

While we can appeal to scripture for witnesses, I pray that we can also appeal to our fellow co-laborers, our brothers and sisters in Christ, who also have testimonies of how they have gone through with Jesus.

I pray that we will not let the burdens of the world distract us from the promises of God.

And, I pray that we will be steadfast in doing the things that we are supposed to do in the right spirit, heart, and mind.

Finally, I pray that we will understand that we are not in this thing alone. We are all witnesses and participants in the building of God's kingdom.

So, let us be encouraged and let us encourage others.

I look forward to seeing all of you at Bible Study tonight where we will continue our encouraging study of the book of Job.

And, invite somebody. If you are being blessed in our coming together, invite somebody else to be blessed too.

Be blessed,

Rev. Cain
