You Have Got To Love A God Like This

Beloved,

As summer is winding down, vacation season is ending and giving way to Fall then Winter, I pray that you are enjoying each day as if it is your last. Sickness and death is all around us; but, so is healing and deliverance such that we should retain our hope in God.

The year of 2019 is rapidly moving towards an end with a new year ready to begin.

Days of goodness and happiness transition into days of challenge and sadness...and then the pendulum swings the other way with days of challenge and sadness transitioning into days of goodness and happiness.

But, depending on your perspective with God, you can allow the negative to overwhelm the positive that comes from being a child of the Most High God.

Speaking a word to the Israelite people, the prophet, Micah, had a word that I believe provides some perspective on our relationships in a way that our reality can be overwhelmingly impacted for the better by our relationship with God.

In Micah 7:5-6, the prophet shared, "Put no trust in a friend, have no confidence in a loved one; guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your embrace; for the son treats the father with contempt, the daughter rises up against her mother, the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; your enemies are members of your own household."

Sounds like a good soap opera or Tyler Perry movie or play. Doesn't it?

But, as art imitates reality, some of us have been betrayed by friends and acquaintances, disrespected by family members, and treated as an outcasts in places where we should be able to seek solace and refuge.

And, because these are the words of a long-time departed prophet, we should gain some insight and, prayerfully, comfort in knowing that these things have been happening for a long time.

As Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes 1:9, "What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done; there is nothing new under the sun."

If there is nothing new under the sun in our human relationships, what is there that is also true about our relationship with God.

Here is the part where you might want to smile, laugh, or even shout.

Micah continued in verses 7 and 18, "But as for me, I will look to the Lord, I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me...Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of your possession? He does not retain his anger forever, because he delights in showing clemency."

Beloved, placing your hope in God is the only place where you can put your hope with certainty that, if it is God's will, it shall come to pass.

God will never leave you. Nobody else can make and keep that promise to you.

God will never forsake you. Nobody else can make and keep that promise to you.

God will always be there for you. Nobody else can make and keep that promise to you.

God, only God, can save you. Nobody else can make and keep that promise to you.

God will look past whatever you have done and still love you if you give your life to Him. Nobody else can make and keep that promise to you.

So, let us be clear, some people will disappoint us. We may even disappoint ourselves sometimes. Now you know. So, when it happens, just remember, like it or not, that is what some people, including us, will do sometime. It is a part of life.

What are we to do?

It depends on what you have decided to do with you. If you have decided to look to the Lord, if you have decided to wait on the Lord, if you have decided your salvation is only found in the Lord, then you can trust that God will hear you and, in His holy and blessed will, He will turn it all for His good, ultimately also being your good.

Basically, God will love you no matter what. Nobody else can make and keep that promise to you.

You have got to love a God like this. But, if not...

Just remember, God still loves you and I love you too!

Be blessed,

Rev. Cain
