We had a wonderful day of worship on Sunday culminating with another child of God coming forth to join our church family. Hallelujah! I thank God for you daily and how you are allowing God to use you in continuously creating a church family that shares God’s love.
But, as was preached on Sunday, it is easier to get started than it is to keep on going and God values our persistence over our perfection.
In a word, it all comes down to us understanding, embracing and living out our purpose.
Most of us had some dreams as children in terms of who and what we wanted to be. A few of us may have actually accomplished those dreams but many of us have not.
As for me, I wanted to be either a rock star like Michael Jackson or a basketball player like Dr. J. I did not quite make it. I sing to make a joyful noise and depending on whether I am on key or not, it may sound more like noise...but it brings me and hopefully God joy.
And, I have now had surgery on both of my knees pursuing my love of basketball without a paycheck for a single game played or phone calls to join Lebron James with the LA Lakers.
I know what I wanted but I thank God that because of my relationship with God through Jesus Christ as guided by the Holy Spirit, I have found my purpose as I seek to bring God pleasure.
Funny thing. It did not all happen at one time; but, I know that nothing would have happened if I had not continued to pursue God. And, in doing so, through the years, and through various degrees of my submission in humility to God, I have found my purpose for the different seasons of my life, such as me now having the incredible opportunity to pastor the great and growing Zion Memorial Missionary Baptist Church.
Now, before you start looking at what someone else is doing, know that God has something unique for you to do.
Ephesians 2:10 tells us, “For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.”
Beloved, I was not supposed to be the next Michael Jackson because God created me to be the one nd only Randy Cain.
Beloved, I was not supposed to be the next Dr. J because God created me to be the one and only Randy Cain.
No matter what I want to do in my life, my purpose is fulfilled in me being the one and only Randy Cain.
I can frustrate myself by ignoring God’s plans and purposes for my life OR OR OR I can pursue the good works that God has prepared for the one and only Randy Cain.
Now, I have never considered myself to be special but I know that I am unique. I am the only me that there has been, is, or ever will be. I am the one and only Randy Cain.
And, the greatest and highest use of my time, talent and treasure on this side of glory is being who God has made me to be in Christ Jesus as guided by the Holy Spirit which is His plan, purpose, and passion for my life.
And, beloved, as it is for me, so it is also for you, the unique, one and only you.
The greatest and highest use of your time, talent, and treasure on this side of glory is being who God has made you to be in Christ Jesus as guided by the Holy Spirit which is His plan, purpose, and passion for your life.
Just a little reminder of what I hope and pray you already know, trust and believe.
God created you on purpose. God saved you on purpose. And, God loves you on purpose.
Let your best life lived be in pursuit of God’s purpose for your life.
And, remember, God loves you and I love you too!
