God blessed us richly with Family, Friends, and Community Weekend. So many played critical parts in helping something wonderful come to pass. As your strength and energy are restored, please be thankful for the opportunity to share your gifts.
What we did this weekend was a matter of faith. We reached out beyond our normal activities, our traditions, our routines, and God met us there.
Scripture tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. Scripture also tells us that with faith the size of a mustard seed, we can move mountains.
What can your faith do?
Hebrews 11:33-34 gives a glimpse,
"who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight."
Beloved, what can your faith do? A better question may be, what can't your faith do?
We all have our faith challenged in some way; but, your challenge is a test of your faith. Will you trust God in the midst of your struggles? Or, will you just struggle?
When you just struggle, you will find reasons to complain. When you feel tempted to complain, I strongly, uncompromisingly encourage you to turn your faith to God instead of your attention on your problems.
In turning in faith to God, you are turning to the one who, in faith, can and prayerfully will turn your situation around.
Even if He does not, He will be using you as a beacon light for those who need to see believers walk in their faith.
It may be your faith walk that will help lead someone else to Christ.
So, when your challenges, your struggles, your setbacks come, show what your faith can do.
Trust God for being God and thank God for being God.
God may add your victories to the list that we have of those saints of old who were victorious because of their faith.
If you are sick or a loved one is ill, do not give up. Trust God and thank God in faith.
If you are having financial troubles, do not give up. Trust God and thank God in faith.
If your relationships with family, friends, coworkers, neighbors are not what they should be, do not give up. Trust God and thank God in faith.
And, in your trusting God and thanking God in faith, find strength in the solidarity of your church family. You might not find the answer in your house; but, you may find what you need in God's house. Come and be with us.
We are all struggling in some way. Let us come together in faith to trust God and thank God in faith. There is strength in numbers that can never be accomplished on our own.
Tonight, we are moving forward in our study of Revelation. Tonight, we begin to deal with the Great Tribulation. It is fearful for those who do not know what their faith has merited them. Do not walk in the darkness of not knowing. Come and learn so that God's word will give you more light to show you His way forward. You will be encouraged to continue in your faith.
And, invite someone to come with you. Help them to also learn what their faith can do.
I look forward to seeing you this evening.
And, remember, God loves you and I love you too!
