Celebrate Your In Dependence Day!

Beloved Church Family,

Okay.  Okay.  Let's get it out of the way.  HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!!  Get your fun on.  Get your eat on.  Get your fireworks on.  Safely enjoy the day that we celebrate as our country's day of independence, our country's day of freedom.  As an American citizen, you should celebrate.

Now, we, as Christians, do know and understand that our citizenship is not limited to the United States of America.

Our citizenship, as Christians, is extended to Heaven, our eternal home with our Heavenly Father.

So, we should celebrate that fact as well.  For we have an independence in God, which may rightfully be called a dependence on God, through Jesus the Christ as guided by the Holy Spirit which supercedes our independence as Americans.

The Apostle Paul put it this way in Ephesians 1:3-8a,

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love.  He destined us for adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace that he lavished on us."

My mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, sons and daughters of Zion Memorial in Jesus Christ, God has blessed us, chosen us, given us a destiny as His children, redeemed us, forgiven us, and graced us with His eternal presence.

Is that not worth celebrating?

On this Independence Day, know that for us, as Christians, every day is truly "In Dependence Day".  We are forever dependent on God.  As such, in our relationship with God, we are in dependence on Him.

And, on who or what else would you prefer to depend on rather than the God who made a way for you before the world was even founded.

So, celebrate Independence Day on this July 4th; but, let every day be a day that you celebrate your "In Dependence Day".

And, remember, God loves you and I love you too!

Be blessed,

Rev. Cain
